We are already a large community of over 56 million Americans with a disAbility. In fact that is 20% of the population - the largest and fastest growing minority subgroup in America and we are banding together to get the same fair and equal representation in today's entertainment industry that all other industries have provided and that Hollywood has provided for all other minorities. Hollywood is one of the last to be inclusive and even most of their "Diversity" programs have no provisions for those with a disAbility! The time for us to come together, work together and reverse the long history of stereotypes, discrimination and end of being represented by well-meaning but non-genuine and unauthentic able bodied individuals writing, directing and acting our lives as if they knew what we are going through.

A person's disAbility is just as significant to their identity as the person's gender, race, nationality, age and sexual orientation.

Abilities United is ready & able to provide, share and express an authentic voice and representation in the entertainment industry!

SAG, AFTRA, and AEA announced a huge campaign to fight for the representation and equal opportunity for Performers with Disabilities (PWD)!

James Cameron Unveils New Film, "Avatar"
His first since "Titanic" is a futuristic, sci-fi, action film featuring a character in a significant role as an ex-Marine & PARAPLEGIC. A new hero for the new century! Although it is cast with an able bodied actor - it is at least a step, ahem, but not an authentic roll in the right direction!

I am trying to contact Mr. Cameron to see if he is interested in mutual support by helping us

"The Diving Bell and the Butterfly" - this is a biopic film on the months after a paralyzing stroke of Elle magazine editor-in-chief, Jean-Dominique Bauby. It got a lot of attention during award season in early 2008. Go to News page for more info.
